Inherited this beast while back. Not running. Somebody{s} really abused it. Cleaned it up; put new carb., air filter, carb. to govenor link with associated springs on it.

Problem: Will start & run 1 second with the choke pulled out....has gotten a little better, will run bout 5 seconds. Have had the carb. off several times. Every thing seems good. Have checked the solenoid, it works. Have adjusted governor several times. It's getting fuel, but apparently not enuf or steady.

What am I missing???

You need compression spark and fuel. Have you confirmed there is a good spark and adequate compression?
