bought one at end of season last year, bought at Lowes. Wouldn't start in Late March. by time I call Lowes and asked if they could look at it, Go to service center
or pay us $100 to look at it, Lowes guy said. Service centers near me can't look at for at least 3 weeks to fix. One guy mentioned , if we sold it you would get quick service.
I couldn't have used this machine over 4 times. Since bought in late season, Lowes should have given consideration.

called troy. machine just clicks when turning key. Service at troy said need full 6-7 volts to start. Try battery jump. don't use a running car to jump, as might
burn harness up. Over 7 volts and it's toast. I put meter on starter and turn key and 6+ volts is getting to starter. Starter clicks in side. Troy guy said
maybe sometime pounding on starter might work. Didn't

So far my $2100.00 Troy-Bilt is worst thing I ever bought for that kind of $$$$. Lowes is now on same don't buy list. I didn't get the repair "insurance". In no
uncertain terms Lowes might have just as well said get lost. Next time I'll buy off internet before going to lowes. Of course, to local independent sales store
is also a good shot, even if it costs a little more.

Is the engine an OHV briggs? If so I can tell you how to fix it. For no money. You would not believe that your no start/crank over problem would be a valve adjustment problem, but it is. I learned the hard way. Easy fix. Hundreds of videos on you tube about this.

It could be your valve's out of adjustment but being and almost new mower, it is more than likely just that your battery is to weak to crank the engine over either jump start it from a vehicle and run it or if you have a battery charger hook it up and let it charge back up. The cold weather will drain your batterys especially if you don't use them in the Winter time.

Put this one in your "lesson learned" book. I only buy power equipment from a dealer who has an in house service department. May cost a tad more but at least you know where to take it when you need service. As important as the brand is a good dealer.

I would bet on the battery. Low end mower batteries rarely last more than 1 year and have to be replaced at no more than 2 year intervals. Good news is that they are fairly cheap at around $30. I would try jumping it off with my car battery first to see if it will crank. If so, just yank the battery and go to Walmart for a new one with 1 year warranty. Note: some only have 90 day warranty.

I don't quite understand why you would only get 6 volts at the starter from a 12 volt battery if it is fully charged. Since it is directly hooked to the battery, the battery should show about 13.6 volts when fully charged. If it is showing 6 then it is almost completely discharged. It may charge up with a charger but not to likely. You need to periodically put a trickle charger on them during the winter. I don't leave mine on continuously (ruined a marine battery with one doing that as it boiled all the electrolyte out) but rather put it on for a few days to top it off then remove it for a month or so.
