trying to bring back to life F S 80 stihl bush/weed cutter #8866102 1977 to1983 made

hello everyone. just found this wonderful web site. need some advise.

this fs 80 is about 36 years young. # 8866102. It caught my attention at an estate sale. adopted it for a couple of bucks $7 to be exact. thinking of all the stuff that this bad boy could do if i got it running.

so , when i started to clean it up. i found the primer bulb was hard as a brick. this primer is on the fuel tank. that's right it is not on the carb. the bulb goes into a plastic nut, that look like a compression nut: that the bulb is very small. checked at local stihl dealer his research said the small bulb has been discontinued since 2006. Checked at a couple of small engine shops no luck.
took the hard bulb out of the plastic nut. the plastic nut where the bulb sticks out to press to prime is 1 cm, the other side of the nut where it is tighten to fuel tank is 2 cm.

since i can't find a bulb to fit-- any suggestions would be a real help. i was thinking if i put a fuel line into the 1 cm opening with a hand squeeze lg bulb that was used to prime older outboard motors years ago. would that pressurized the tank to get fuel up to the carb.

open to all ideas. any idea if anywhere old old parts may be brought. or is their a conversion kit that my be used to convert the carb and the fuel tank to a new way.

Know nothing about your engine, but diesel fuel primer bulbs are common for today’s engines. Google them and see if any are in the size you need (if this is what you’re talking about)

thank you for replying. Here is some info on this F S 80 #8866102 made in Japan. this stihl is 30 years old atleast.
the fuel tank has the primer bulb on the side of the fuel tank not on the carb. the primer bulb goes thru a hole that is 1 cm in diameter, very small. the primer bulb plastic nut that holds it on to the fuel tank is 2 cm. the nut looks like a compression nut.
any info about this bad boy or any suggestions i would entertain, carb conversion kit? anything at all . I KNOW NOTHING!!

Jack Pot !! on the fuel bulbs. now if have to figure out a way to rigg it up in to that small 1 cm hole of the nut that holds it on to the fuel tank.

I have a 66, bought it new way back when. Runs like a top. Probably outlast me. Stihl actually produced good stuff back then, not so much now.

FS66. The model. Made in Japan like yours. My carb is a made under license Walbro pumper and parts are hard to find.

thanks again. would it be possible to take a couple of pictures of the fuel tank, the primer bulb assemblie, and the routing of the fuels lines? so i can cut down on the detective work by trial & error.
