Trying to buy a JD 790.... Need some help

I'm admittedly not that familiar w/ the larger JD Cut's, but am a little confused with the differences between the 790 and 3203. From what I can tell both are marketed as "economy" tractors.

The 3203 seems to cost approx $1000 more than the 790 but comes w/ hydro and another half dozen hp. On the surface that seems like a pretty significant upgrade. I've heard mentioned the 3203 can't run its rear pto w/ the operator off the seat, but that doesn't seem like it would be a deal breaker for most people (especially since it could be fixed in less than 5 minutes if you were so inclined).

Is the 3203 targeted to eventually replace the 790 or do they fill different niches?

Please enlighten me.

I think when you see 'em on the lot side by side with a few 2000 series and 3000 series you come away with the impression that the 790 is at the top of the 2000 sized tractors and the 3203 is right in there size-wise with the 3000 series.

But, IMO they are the "economy" option for buyers in either the 2000 frame size or the 3000 series frame size.

So, from that standpoint, their aimed at different market niches.
