I'm new here and trying to buy my first tractor. I recently purchased 98 acres and am in need of a larger tractor. I have three local dealers JD, NH and Kubota. I ruled out the John Deere 5085e because it was almost 3k more than the 8560 evenly equipped. I know this isn't exactly apples to apples as the 8560 is 85hp vs 75hp for the 4.75. But the price is about $1200 difference with the Kubota being the more expensive. I like them both a lot but am having trouble making up my mind. I plan on pulling a 12' batwing and doing some tilling and moving bales around. I possibly could get into light hay work down the road but that is still up in the air. I'm just mainly looking for a good all around tractor. Both of these are with cab and loaders. Can anyone maybe give me some pros and cons of each that I may be overlooking? Thank you in advance.

I like the 4.75 cab lay-out but would take the 8560 over it. It has larger frame(size weight for tilling) and more HP(handling the mower and hay equip.). I use the 7040,pretty equal to a 4.75,looked at them like the buddy seat but to me getting a lot more tractor for 1200 going with the 8560. Now between a 4.85 and 8560 flip a coin if same money couldn't go wrong with either I believe, both are new models with not much history. But both brands been around along time. Any insight on dealers?

I get a little more comfortable feeling from the Kubota dealer, although both are nice. I really like the instructor seat (I have little ones that may want to ride with daddy) but can't justify buying a tractor just for a seat. Let me ask this, would there be any reason to spend 3k extra for the 5085e John Deere?
Also, one more question, is the 4.75 really underrated from the factory? I've read in a few posts it is but nothing has been confirmed.

I'll say this in way, where still respectful to the JD owners. I don't see where you would see the return, unless trading in or sale later date but it all equals out.
As for the little one,I have a 4yr old and that seat would be really nice but at the time the 4.75 was just coming out and they was proud of them, would have cost me 5grand more than the 7040 or I would own one. My tractor does everything I need it to but it would be nice to have the extra HP,exspecially when I'm growing acres every year. The hills baling what really get me,flat no problems. I run a 12ft shredder, does good job pulling it,wouldn't be scared to run a 15ft behind it.
Have actually priced some NH 4.85 and 4.95 not to long ago, prices are comparable to the 8560 and 9960's. I wouldn't think twice about buying another Kubota if they offered a buddy seat but 56,000 to step up to a M100 without the loader to get a buddy seat hard to bite off.

Have you tested all them out? See the control lay-out and etc,I spent a lot of time at dealers before I purchased, this is my third Kubota. I run a JD 5083E feeding cows for a friend,at there weekend place when they are gone.

Thanks for your response. I'm trying to not let having an instructional seat play into my decision but for some reason I can't stop thinking about it. I can remember riding in the cab of a Ford tractor with my uncle when I was younger and I would love for my girls to have the same memories. But now that I think about it that Ford didn't have a buddy seat, I just found somewhere to lean or park my butt. I guess mine could do the same.

Yes, I've basically driven myself and probably the dealers crazy going back all the time to look again. I personally would rate the cabs 1.NH 2. Kubota and 3rd JD. This is my first tractor so I'm learning as I go but I would have to think having the heat and ac vents where they are in the Kubota and NH would work better than the old style of having them in the roof like the JD.

Its a big purchase, I done the same thing, cause I wonted to get it right. Bale handling both will do,if its the big 5x6 bales would load the rear so don't have to run any rear ballast or wheel weights witch ever you prefer. What kinda baling you thinking about? I run a 5x4 round baler and 8ft cutter, went cheap with a 8wheel rake(mistake).

Have you priced a NH T4.85? Wouldn't it be a more comparable tractor? Just a thought, or make your decision harder.
