My radiator isn't leaking. My radiator fins are clean I washed them out. The water in the radiator is hot so it appears that the thermostat is working.

My question is would it hurt to remove the thermostat all together and let the water just continually circulate.

I see a design flaw also. The battery is in front of the radiator and blocks about 1/3 to 1/2 of the radiator.

What do you suggest?

If you don't agree with removing the thermostat then how low of a Temperture thermostat would you use?

I hope this is the last problem which need to be fixed.

Don......you dont mention what the problem is....overheating, loosing water?..........better engineers than I will ever be designed those thermostats to keep a constant temp for your engine......it is SUPPOSED to get HOT........you mention about the battery blocking the radiator......in my limited experience the couple of inches of space between the radiator and battery allow ample ventilation for airflow into the radiator........I have noticed a bunch of crud, dirt, leaves tend to accumulate behind the radiator and need cleaning from time to time..........seems the battery location would be an aerodynamic problem if we were dealing with high speed airflow; but golly even at my fastest lap around the pasture I dont stir enough air in the envelope around me to even muss up the feather in my hat.........if I look for trouble, I usually find it.....Dennis

Don- I'm not too familiar with Iseki tractors, but does yours have a water pump or is it thermosyphon? If it's thermosyphon you must have a maximum of 30% antifreeze in your radiator for the thermosyphon system to work properly. In these systems, I hear plain water actually cools better than an antifreeze mix.

remeber dirty airfilters will make any engine run hot too

if in doubt, change it out!

The TS2205 has a water pump - cuz mine is leaking. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

water pump is rebuildable, it is quick and affordable, call or email if you need info.

Hey.....hope you have fixed your problem by now......but just in case a thought........had the battery out today and noticed the fine screen in front of the radiator itself........that and there is a rubber gasket around the battery (cavity) in front of the radiator that seals off the area and sends ALL of the air into the radiator........Is there anyway that this fine screen is blocked a lot......seems this could cause overheating......that and the rubber gasket not being in place could cause an airflow through the radiator problem........Dennis

Hi All,
My TS2205 has a over heating problem, too.
Antifreeze mix flow out when it is very hot. I need to add either anti freeze mix or sometimes water by about 3 to 400 ml to try to avoid any further overheating.
TS2205 has thermostat in it. As engine goes hot enough in winter time, my thermostat should be working well.

The overheat warning lamp goes on in summer time after I start using it for 1 or 1.5 hrs... and i need to stop it to cool it down.
Outside temp was nearly 50 degrees Centigrade high...

Is this normal in quantity by draining out 3 to 400 ml when engine is very hot?
Is it ok to use ts 2205 without adding 3 to 400 ml water to fill up the radiator for next use or I will keep adding some water or anti freeze everyday like I have been doing for a long time.

Radiator is clean, thermo is working, radiator fins are all clean, too, radiator cap has newly been replaced, no water leak from water pump,,,,,

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You shouldn't need to keep adding coolant. There needs to be a small amount of room in the radiator to allow the fluid to expand upon heating. If it's purging fluid when hot I wouldn't keep adding more. 50 deg. C ambient temperature seems certainly very warm, I didn't realize it is that hot in Japan now. Running straight water vs. anti-freeze gives slightly better cooling and may make the difference. In general, it seems like the radiators are undersized on Iseki tractors when running full load for extensive periods. It appears one radiator was used for all engines for a particular tractor despite some models coming with different horsepower ratings - so when you have an Isuzu 2AB1 (TS2200s) it will require more cooling capacity than a 2AA1 (TS1900s) and it should have a larger radiator to accommodate it. You're probably running into the limits of the cooling system at that ambient air temperature.

Thank you so much for your response and good advice.
For amb temp in Japan, it may be even warmer than I mentioned earlier
as amb temp taken by local city halls for weather report comes from
their old fashioned mercury temp checker placed in a certain wooden box
standing on grass,1.2 - 1.5m above. So we believe actual amb temp should be much warmer on field.

What you wrote in your response really convinced me enough to beilieve my radiator capacity may be too small for this ts2205 model. I called ISEKI for radiator capacity for this model, it is 6 liter. I will do what you suggested next time. I will NOT add any more coolant when this happens next time and will see if my coolant still flows out on the following days. .

It would be appriciated if any other solutions advices.
