TS Rewards Program

I get a 10% coupon every quarter, along with the other "free coke" or "free candy bar". I get most of my dog food, cat food and kitty litter from the local TSC because I can park close to the door, walk in and get my stuff, and check out in just a couple of minutes.

My closest store has a clearance section in the back corner and I've found some really good stuff there from time to time. I've bought lots of tools from there and they're plenty good for my purposes.

My TSC isn't always as cheap as Rural King, but it's an hour closer. The local manager is a super nice guy and I find all of the employees to be very helpful.

I think if you are in the Neighbor's club AND you use a TSC credit card for your purchases, you get a $5 credit for every $150 you spend. I have a TSC credit card because I bought a bushhog from there a year ago and wanted to get the 0% financing (and I used my 10%) off coupon. I've been very happy with the bushhog so far.

Often I have found when shopping at places with "rewards" programs that I can find most items at comparable prices at other stores. I don't and won't play that "jack prices up so that we can discount them" game. :thumbdown:

I really detest stores that require you to be a member of their "rewards" program in order to get their advertised sale price. Supermarkets are notorious for this. Around here Price Chopper does this. And the rewards are rather skimpy...after so many dollars worth of purchases you get a one-time discount on gas, only at Sunoco stations. Trouble is, Sunoco are generally the highest-priced stations...even with the discount you still pay more than you would at the regular price elsewhere. And the rewards are only good for a very limited time. Not worth it IMHO.

I also get the 40# general mix wild bird seed for around $8 at RK. Lowes and HD are more like $13 or more for 35# and they won't match due to size and brand differences.

Local True Value Hardware ticked me off one time. Their ad offered a 20# bag of wild mix for $9.99 (something they often do). They didn't have any 20s though. The manufacturer had sent out 22# bags as a promo (2 lbs FREE) in a big emblem on the bags. Store refused to accept the ad price, insisted on charging $11 each. I didn't go for it.

And why did you pass on it? 20 lb for $9.99 figures out to be the exact same price per pound as 22 lb for $11.

I don't know where you live, but curiously, do the birds where you are actually eat that wild bird seed mix? Around here pretty much all anyone will eat is sunflower seeds. I bought a bag of thistle seed and one of safflower seed to try and discourage squirrels (supposedly they won't eat either one). Well, the squirrels didn't eat it, but neither did the birds. We have a lone turkey that comes around, and it ate the safflower seed, but no one will touch the thistle/nyjer.
