Hi everyone,

First post here. I followed "Lotsofgreengrass" how to on rebuilding the Tuff Torq K46 transmission. Everything went smooth, and the transmission run's great!

One problem, the forward pedal is now the reverse pedal, and vice-versa. Reverse is super fast, and forward is super slow. Somehow everything got reversed?

Has anyone else had this issue, and a way to correct it? This is mounted on a John Deere LT170.

Thanks!

I just rebuilt a Tuff Torq K57A (very similiar to your K46) and i had the same issue. I had to take it back apart and rotate the wedge shaped block 180 degrees. This corrected the problem for me.

I like that. Two first-posters, one posts a problem, second one solves it. Case closed, and a good example of the way this forum operates. Nice.

Number 8 is the wedge shape block that I was referring to. Once I tore it back apart and rotated it, it fixed the problem.

Thanks YoungZ. I rotated the wedge piece. Problem solved. All the parts explosions and pictures I have seen show the wedge like the picture! now I think I could have the entire trans rebuilt in about an hour. Practice makes perfect.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is the picture shown correct or backwards?

Hey, this is an old thread but... I have another solution.

I've torn into 3 transaxles to rebuild and failed... they were broken to begin with and never changed the pump or motor so...

I found a K46 from a X300 on Craigslist that was near new ($150)..... but same trouble, after installation, forward was reverse. The thought of failure again scared me so I looked to re-do the lever that made the tractor go forward or reverse. BTW, this is on a JD L110. So, pushing the forward pedal actually pushes the lever on tranny backwards - - so how can I reverse this? I flipped over the connecting lever on the transaxle to point down instead of up....then welded in a section of "S" shaped rod so the shaft cleared the mower deck. It Works Perfect!!!!!!! I did re-install the reverse switch by cutting off the top, flipping it over and having it below (but not pictured).
