Tuff torque transmissions

I have a husqvarna ts348d garden tractor with a tuff torque hydro transmission with diff lock, 58 hrs now, do i need to change the tranny fluid and filter if there is one?

What does your owner's manual say? If you bought it used, you should be able to find one on the web to download.

I'm not aware of filters on most L&G hydros and generally they're sealed and intended to be non-serviceable. Most of us can remove them from the machine to drain and refill if necessary though.

The fluid is not generally considered a user replaceable item. Many have a (plastic) plug on top through which fluid may be added but no drain on the bottom. You will probably have to remove the transaxle from the tractor to add fluid. Mine is ten years old and the seals went out on the transaxle. They are no longer available so I get to tear it down to see what I can adapt.

If it's working okay I wouldn't touch it. They can be a bear to get all the air out of when you drain them. You probably have a couple hundred more hours in it before it dies. :laughing:

ohhh thanks, ha, i guess i better start looking for something to rebuild, then sell this piece of wonderful craftsman ship

FYI, TT transmissions and their HydroGear counterpart are in nearly all lawn tractors, regardless of color or brand.

I think that I may have just headed off any potential Tuff Torque problems.
I have a 42" big box JD 110 LA (Tuff Torque) mower with low hours (125).

The machine looks and runs perfectly, and it will likely last many more hours.
A new one now sells for $1799 + tax at HD.
I am hoping I can sell it for $900 in the Spring.
If I kept it, and the Tuff Torque were to digest itself (there is a history), the JD 110 LA would be worth exactly zero!

So what will I mow with now?
I just splurged, and yesterday, bought a new Scag Liberty Z (zero turn, 21HP Kawasaki, 48" deck)
$4.5K, nice machine, gotta have it....I'll be 80 in 4 months.
Time for new toys is quickly running out!

Last year, I bought a really nice Kubota L48 TLB, and a Club Car golf cart (I don't play golf).
This year, it is just a Scag 48" ZTR mower.....so far.
I think I can manage each of those 3 machines.
I would likely not be able to manage a young blond,....though trying would certainly be fun.
