It sounds like Toyota is looking into putting a Cummins into the Tundra. I can only imagine it's either they want the name brand of Cummins or they don't want to deal with trying to get one of their own diesels approved for use in the US. I guess it could be a test to see just how well a diesel option would sell and if good then they may switch over to one of their own engines.

I would think Nissan would have an agreement with cummins preventing them from selling the engine to Nissan competitors.

The problem for Nissan is they don't sell Titans. The Tundra is not selling like the big 3 but it's still selling 10x as many Titans. It's hard for Nissan to force Cummins to do anything.

Is that 12 canyons and no equators sold for the whole month of August?

I would say yes. Since Sizuki dropped out of the US market you would expect either no sales or very little as what ever inventory is used up. Aren't the Canyon and Colorado discontinued in 2012 waiting for the new models to hit the showrooms?

That chart shows midsize truck are becoming a thing of the past.

Both Nissan and Toyota sell more midsize trucks than full size. Dodge and Ford have dropped them all together, for different reasons. Ford killed off the ranger to gain F150 sales. 10 years ago they sold a quarter million of them a year. Dodge just sucks at selling trucks in general. We'll see what happens when GM releases the new Colorado/ Canyon (Gm last effort was subpar). The Japanese companies have been selling them at a good pace for the last decade. there's no reason why US mfgs can't do the same.

Exclusivity contracts do nothing but hurt the supplier and I'm sure Cummins is too smart for that.

Double that once you see that Nissan is only selling 15k to 20k Titans a year. I would expect that Nissan could sell maybe 5k Cummins powered Titans a year. A Cummins powered Tundra could sell 20k to 30k a year. While Nissan may have worked with Cummins to build the engine numbers trump everything. If Ford was to call Cummins tomorrow I have no doubts we would see a Cummins powered F150.
