I figured I'd check with the experts here... my neighbor (a divorced mom) has a BX 2200 that she bought a few years back to snowblow her gravel driveway with. She is not too mechanical and she hates to ask for help but she did ask me about servicing her tractor.

Apparently, her dealer offers a "winter tune-up" deal for the tractors and (mainly) snowblowers they sell. During this time, they offer a free or minimal pick up and delivery charge...this is what had prompted her to call me; she was upset because she had missed it and they were now offering to split the pick-up and delivery charge with her and she wanted to get my opinion if it was reasonable or not.

Cutting to the chase: it seems they charge her around $260 plus additional parts every year for this "tune-up". Having owned a couple of Massey Fergusons over the years, I was curious to what they were doing in this "tune-up" so she called and asked. They told her they change the oil and spark plugs(?), tighten belts, lube, etc. Sounds like they gave her the gas-powered snowblower answer but what would they really do for $260 to her tractor?She has approx. 147 hours on this machine.

I am planning on changing her oil, oil filter, fuel filter (I assume there is one?), greasing it up and calling it a day. I could change the transmission fluid although it was supposedly changed when she bought it used a couple of years back.

Anything else that I'm either plain forgetting or is there some other maintenance items unique to Kubota BX2200's that I am unaware of?

Sounds as though you have the bases covered only thing that I would add is Diesel fuel conditioner/antigel.

There are actually 2 fuel filters on a BX2200, one under the cowl next to the engine and one underneath the operator's platform. You might also check the coolant and the fluid level in the front hubs.

Heck, I would do that all day for $220 plus parts. Not much to do to a tractor that is somewhat maintained. I would tell her to skip it and be a good neighbor and give her machine a good once over and change the stuff you mentioned. After the first service it will be a piece of cake for you to do each year.

DMF - Here is a nice link to Messick's website Kubota BX Service that shows what to check for in a 50 hour service on a BX. It may help you out.

Yes - air filter (for shame). Also check/change the front axle fluid if it's a 4x4 - it's probably due.

I actually had air filter on my list but didn't post it...great catch though!

If you have the time, I'd skip the dealer and get the parts from them instead. doing the 100 hour service is not hard. At most, I'd say it would take you about 4 hours for everything. changing the HST fluid, filter, fuel filters (2), either clean air filter or change it out, and change the front axel fluid with same HST fluid. Just get the SUDT from the dealer and tell them what you are doing. Just like the other TBN'er posted the messicks website, mosey on over to thier website and have laptop next to the tractor when doing the service so you can find all the plugs, locations of said filters.

I agree with all of the other posters, this should be in the Manual. The BX models are really easy to maintain and don't require a lot of attention.

I would re torque the wheel lugs, check air pressure and all the things I am sure you already know to do and check the steering linkage as it can be pretty easily damaged and not really notice it. My son in law has been driving my old 2200 this way all summer.
