Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, and sure would appreciate any information you could give me about changing out my mower tires. I mow about 5 acres, mostly hilly and bumpy using a John Deere F 725 front mower. Love the way the mower works, it's reliability, and great overall traction. But on hills, especially if the grass is wet, my original Multi Trac tires spin, sometimes even on dry grass going uphill.

I've just found this "Turf Super Lug" tire on a popular site, but don't want to order them until I know the exact dimensions of these tires. As the tread is a lug tread, and extends out from the tire nearly an inch (from reviews), I'm concerned about the lugs catching on the bracket that comes off my drive wheel to support the side bagging system I bought with this mower about 16 years ago. There is only シ" to ス" clearance between the tread and the bar or bracket that attaches to the hub of the right side drive wheel. Anybody out there who has changed out these original tires to a more aggressive tread pattern to improve traction on hills? Big concern is only the clearance factor. The measurements of the original tires which are 20x10x8 are: 9" across the tread, and 18 ス" tire height when fully inflated. Any help out there? Many thanks.

:welcome: from Ohio

Have you looked at RimGuard or or otherwise filling the tires?

That may solve the problem without changing tires out.

The tires are only 18" high, so RimGuard would only add a few pounds. After 16 years on gravel and grass these old tires are probably ready for a change, not much tread left on them. After careful measuring and more internet surfing, I'm not finding any tire that will replace these that I can use my bagger with. The local Les Schwab tire store here has one set of O.E.M. tires which would at least give me the same traction it had when new. Don't see any other viable option other than that so far. Thanks for you suggestion though.
