I recently purchased a 7' snowblade for my 4WD Yanmar YM3110D and was advised to get tire chains, because I have turf tires. Do any of you have successful experience in the snow with turf tires? If I get chains, will they be needed on all 4 tires?

My long-time tractor service people have agreed to service my "new" Yanmar, if parts are available. It seems that Schaeffer is a good source for the parts, so I should get along ok.

I have turfs on my Kubota B2710 and don't use chains for snow removal. I clean off an almost full size ice rink with no problems. The turfs are better than ags on the ice rink. and work well on the paved drive as well. I would try it first and see if you really need the chains, and then maybe just get the rears first.

If your snow plow is properly sized for your tractor and you have
loaded tires I don't see any problem with turf tires..

I have a JD 790 with 6 1/2 foot front blade, turf tires loaded but no
chains. Went through last winter without any problem, did use the
differential lock a couple of time going up hill...

One of the storms last winter left us with 15 to 18 inches of wet heavy snow...

Ihave turfs on the back of my 1802d and they spin in wet grass. but with 4wd locked in I hace never been stuck and I have been in some real sloppy muddy area's. chains might not be needed

Stan, on pavement you will get better traction with the turfs over chains unless you get heavy icing situations. Deep snow I recommend chains again only on dirt. Ortherwise the tractor picks up and gives less traction do to less surface area as most chains don't penetrate the ice.

I run chains on the rear tires only during the winter months, plus in wet areas & woods & hauling a trailer & steep slopes, it does give little extra bit.

Kinda like money in the bank./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
