Tractor
BX2350
 Second time out with BX2350 got stuck in mud. Wanted to try out Woods GT-52 tiller. Actually had no problem while tilling row in 2 wheel drive. Tractor dug in after I finished and had lifted rear tiller. Wheels only dug in about 4 inches, but couldn't get out with 4 wheel drive even with rear wheels locked.

:) After about 10 minutes of forward and back I was able to back out. Tried using FEL bucket, but don't yet have the skill to use it effectively.

 It sure doesn't take much to get stuck with Turf Tires. Highest use of tractor will be for mowing so I'll still stick with Turf Tires, but will have to watch out for saturated soil.

dump the bucket all the way so that it is facing all the way down.
let the bucket all the way down to the ground and apply some down force
curl bucket back up while backing up.
This should help

I have very decent luck with the turfs, even in my red/marine clay environment. But if they fill with wet mud, they may as well have no tread at all. If I was doing hard tiller work, I'd probably run Ags. I haven't ruled out replacing my turfs with ags in about 10 years when mine wear out. Haven't decided yet, but I have some time to mull it over.

You'll get better with the loader. Mr. Adam 23 has it right and if you had done that, you'd have probably popped yourself out in about 15 seconds.

I wonder if you could have engaged the tiller, lowered it, and used it for extra "traction" to shove you out of your pickle...as you get more hours on your machine, you'll get more comfortable making these calls on the fly.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome. We're happy to tell you all the things you could have done!!!

Yup, I tried engaging the tiller for more forward force, but it didn't work.

I tried tipping the FEL bucket forward and using bottom edge of bucket to pull forward, but was not successful. Did not try using the bucket to push backwards as suggested.

 I'm probably a little timid for fear of damaging something with exccessive force. I am sure I'll get better with some hours on the tractor.

Would chains help here?

I may get into occasional muddy jobs too and was curious if chains would do the trick.

I have been stuck several times with my turfs. I got so tired of it, I was trying to get a friend to locate me some cheap Ag's. He did, six of them, so I have a spare or two when I tear up a tire. (two so far) Last time I tore one up, I was parked right next to the where I had the two turfs stored, so I put them back on, figuring to get a little use out of them while it is dry here. The Ag's are shorter, so I don't have as much ground clearance, but they are great for traction. Plus, since I bought the Ford 7710 fwa and duals on the back, I don't worry about getting the JD stuck nearly as much. It has been easy hooking up with it and just dragging the stuck tractor out.

don't worry about hurting it. they are as tough as they look. I have had the front wheels off the ground trying to pull stuff. have fun :)

Interesting, the Ags on mine are a couple inches taller than the turfs. I kept the turfs around thinking I'd use them in the summer. I only put them on once in 2 years when my ags got a flat. Someone here emailed me about some turfs and I said I might be willing to sell mine. We are both now happier...probably him more with his new turfs!

I guess it's the soil conditions, not just the Turf Tires.

I had my Fifth Wheel trailer parked in front of equipment shed. When I tried to pull out with 2008 F450 SuperDuty (Dually, 350hp, 650tq, 4.30 rear, 4x4, limited slip) it dug down into soil. I got the power, but not the traction. It has been raining here in KY for a week solid. Once you break the surface it's down into the mud.

Note: :D Neighbor got his big Ford tractor with AG tires. The tractor Ag tires dug down thru the mud into gravel below. With the extra pull from his tractor we got FW out onto asphalt. GCW of truck and FW is #26,000.

Got to love a big tractor with AG Tires.

I bought my L series with turfs and got stuck the first time I tried to get up my driveway. As Keithinspace says once they fill with mud forget it. I traded for R4s and have not had a problem since. I've also bought Chains for front ( square ring ) and rear ( double ring ), overkill has always been one of my problems.

My suggestion to you would be to stay with the turfs, because of the mowing, but get a "good" set of chains for your mud work. Chains are easy enough to put on when needed as your tractor comes with its own jacks. Buy the right chains and don't be afraid to spend a few more $$$ as the type & quality is directly related to their ability to work and stay together (eg my front crosschains are grade 70 because of the stress involved with use on a steering tire). I bought mine from B & B Chain a division of Chappel tractor in NH. They have a good website as well as several other chain suppliers.
