Tires Turf to R4 tires on 1220

I am looking at a 1220 with turf tires. I want to change to R4 industrial tires. Can I use the same wheels? Wheels are 6-12 in front and 9.5-16 in rear. Also is 3700 hours real bad? It doesnt have any blowby at all out of the oil fill tube and doesnt smoke. power seems great. Also (sorrry) what is the three point lift capacity of this machine??

The 3-pt lift 24" beyond hitch capacity is 1265 lbs. on a Ford/New Holland 1220.

The profiles differ greatly from ag to industrial to turf, so in just about every case you will need to change wheels when you go from R1-R2-R3-R4. There may be some exceptions, but certainly not the rule...

3700 hours on that little 3 cylinder engine is remarkable... I hope you have a fantastic price that reflects this.

Thanks John, I also found that out today as well.
Actually you tell me is the price is decent, this machine needs some detail work, has a 48" under belly mower, everything works and runs quite well actually, and the guy is asking $3,000, and I think I can get it for $2,200. What do you think? I figure thats not too bad. IF it blows up in a few years I figure I can get a reman engine and have a good machine for less than $4,000.

What happens if it blows up the day after you get it? Why is the owner selling it? Is he the original owner? I'm utterly shocked it's actually still going with the clock @ 3700 hrs... WOW!

You have to realize that it only has 14.5 PTO HP and not much you can do with that except maybe mow the lawn… what exactly did you want to use the tractor for?

Without seeing and hearing it run… it’s tough to judge, but I think even your eager $2k may be too high. I really need more info, but if you insist… offer $1200. {explain excess hours to him}, it’s really no different than buying a shiny new looking 1995 car with 280,000 miles on it… if only that hour meter could talk.. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
