I have a BB on the way and hope to get a loader very soon. Question is do the turf tire do an OK job? I want to scrape soil off a pasture and move it to some low spot around the property. I plan to try the BB to scrape it, or get a ripper/middle buster if I have to.

Your Box blade should work fine for what you are looking to do. I have turfs and have had no problems with traction. You will be fine.

I think one of the keys to using a box blade with turf tires is having the patience to wait until the soil conditions are right. If you try to do it when things are still too wet, you'll have problems with traction. A little extra weight can't hurt, but remember the weight of the box blade does not do you any good for traction once the blade is on (or in) the ground. Wheel weights or filled rear tires would help. If you really need more traction, chains will do you much more good than the weights would, and at least you can take them on or off relatively easily.

Thanks guys. Sounds good. I think I will be fine, the soil is all fill that we took out when I had the pond built about eight years ago. I have kept it mowed the last few years and the drainage on it is good. So once I get the BB I'll just give it a try and go when soil conditions are right. Like you say John, I could alway get a set of chains if needed!

You should have any problems if it drains and its fill, after all you have 4wd to help pull you thru.
