I have shut off my tractor several times with my knee. I twist to the right to work with the 3ph and hit the key with my left knee. :(

Any ideas short of cutting my leg off???

I have never done it with my knee but my Jack Russell does it all the time...the first time she done it I was very perplexed as to what happened since I was looking aft, now it's old hat I just pull the hand throttle to idle and fire her back up.

I have turned the lights on with my knee.

The key and any other switches need to be mounted on the side.

I have a permanent mark on my knee from the light switch on mine... I keep threatening to relocate the switch :)

Is your seat back all the way? I'm 6'1" and my knee is about 5 inches back from the key on my L3400 with the seat all the way back. In 160 hours I have not yet bumped it.

I used to bump the key on my JD355D lawn tractor all the time. My new JDX748 has the key moved up and out of the way so it can't be bumped. I wonder if some of the tractor designers ever actually drive tractors.

I never thought being 5'6" was good for anything. Have never hit the key or light switch.:D

We have an old International 656 and I think I may have busted the key off at least a dozen times in the last year. Its in such an ackward place that my knee smashes into it whenever I turn around to look backwards. And the worst part of it all is the key snaps off inside the ignition so you have to fish it out with pliers.

I do have the seat forward. I like to be close to the controls. They are my friends.

Sounds like the key control is not your friend.:)

Can't you guys simply remove the key while its running? Most of these will allow you to do so.

I bought a L3400 last week but have not received it yet. One thing I did do at two different dealers was get on the seat and swing my knees to see if I hit anything. I am 6'5" and have learned that many things like doors, car seats and airline seat rows are not made for normal size people like me :) But I was impressed by the room I had when sitting in the seat of the 3400. I do not foresee having a problem with my knees hitting the key.

I now have about 23 hours on my L3400. I haven't even come close to hitting the key with my knees. I had run the tractor for quite a few hours before I remembered what was mentioned in this post so I swung my legs back and forth to see what I would have to do to hit the key with my knee. It looks like I would have to slide the seat forward or sit on the edge of the seat and have my legs shortened by about 6". My knee is way above the key. I really don't see how I could ever accidentally hit the key when operating the tractor.
