Give me the low down on turning this ruff plot into a formal Nice Yard. Well the Home will be in their as well.
I will be pulling the trigger on a BX2660 and depending on comment wich of the implements will joint the minimum of FEL, MMM and maybe Harrow?

Thanks in advance.

How large of an area do you want to turn into a yard?

My suggestions would either be to disk it up and then smooth it out with a box blade or hire a dozer for a few hours. The dozer could be the easier and cheaper option.

The width is 280' and the house will sit pretty much centered 100' in depth, that will be the yard/front of the house. I will come up with some shrubs or small trees. the rest of the area 280' X 400' Well I dont know my try my hand @ gardening or something to break up the monotany.

Wait until the house prep work(foundation, septic ect.)is done at least before you really start. Otherwise part of you work will get torn up in the building process. I have started from scratch 4 different times an helped my sister once and I can tell that if you have rock it can take a lot of work to get the are cleaned up enough to safely mow. You need to get as much of the grass as you can out of the way. Bushhog or mow as close as you can or burn the grass off. Discing the yard can help or you can use the rippers on a box blade to break up the top of the ground. Then blade everything as smooth as you can. The more grass that is in the mix the more times you have to do it. If it is still not as smooth as you would really like it drag something over the yard, a harrow, heavy post or log, or even a large tire or some small tires hooked together. I used a cedar tree one time and it worked out very well. I wouldn't buy a lot of stuff that I did not think I would have a use for after the yard work was done.
Good Luck

chh, we okies have got a lot in common!! I like the cedar tree drag:rolleyes: I like that alot! Eastern Red Cedar drag, another way to erradicate the old die hard! What would Oklahoma do without red cedar, blackjack oak, winged elm and "Bo-dark" aka Boise-de-arc or something like that!?:D By the way, when I first saw laen64's pics the first thing I thought of was a controlled burn. Conditions dictating, of course. Not one of those "burn barrel" burn off's!

have local farmer with large equip come and disc it then come back and feild cultivate 2 weeks later. (depending on rain/weather)

attach 3pt spreader

spread pre-merge fertilzer and drag with your favort drag. (log on chain, RR-tie, section of chain link fence etc)

spread your choice of grass seed.

roll with pull behind roller

water, water, water!
