The turnbuckles on the check chains of my B2100 are a pain in the neck. There's got to be a simpler, quicker system for adjusting the width of the lower links. Is there a better system that I can install?

Will, I wasn't too fond of those turnbuckles on my B7100 either./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I do like the flat bar and pins on the B2710 a lot better, but don't know whether there's anything that you can use without having to weld new brackets on the lower links.

After putting up with NO turnbuckles and just fixed chains and a solid bar to stabilize the lower links on the Massey 245 3 point, turnbuckles are an improvement.

Kubota is now using a wonderful square tubing inside square tubing with a drop in pin on some tractors. I would think you could fabricate one with a little effort, but the last time I tried to build something for a 3 point out of spare parts, it got too expensive too quick.

Will - As Wen said, the newer style tube w/pin stabilizers are an incredible improvement. Do any of the new B-series have something like this? If so, you should be able to retro-fit them. Cost might be a factor, though.

Mark, when I said a "flat bar" on the B2710, that may have been misleading. It's not a square tube inside another square tube, was Wen said, but is a thick, flat steel bar inside a rectangular tube, both of which have a lot of holes in them to line up and drop a pin in each side. And this past weekend, I pulled a dumb stunt (wouldn't have been so dumb if I was new to tractors, but I should have known better). I left the pins out - on purpose - so the mower could swing off to the left to mow a spot below the tractor on a slope. I guess you know what happened. When I felt the thump, thump and looked back, the mower swung far enough left for the tire tread to catch the lower link and lift it and bend that flat bar. Fortunately, it wasn't hard to straighten, with a 4# hammer after I took it off and got it on the anvil./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I checked with my Kubota dealer and was told that I can replace the turnbuckles with the better system that is on the 2710. The cost is $64 each, or $128 for the pair. I've ordered the parts, and I'll let you know how it works. Due to a combination of vacations and holidays, this may take a few weeks.

I had not idea what it would cost, but I sure do like the method the B2710 uses over the turnbuckles on the B7100.

That will be some of the best $128 you ever spent, if you use the 3-point hitch very much.

I decided to replace the turnbuckle stabilizers on my B2100 with the "flat bar in a rectangular tube" system found on the B2710. For reasons I can't imagine, it took 3 months to get all the parts. The total cost was $123.38. It takes about 30 minutes to remove the turnbuckles and install the new parts (or 20 minutes if your daughter doesn't help). The new system is much more convenient than the old one, especially for implements with outward pointing pins. If anyone needs the part numbers, I can post them.

Will,

I would be interested in those part numbers. I have broken the turn buckle on my B21 pulling a rear blade. And elongated the mounting pin holes a couple of times. Hope the 2710 system is stronger set up.
