Turned engine upside down

Had a drivetrain problem with my snowthrower so wheels were locked up and it was a long way from the shop. Couldn't drag it with wheels locked so I ended up having to carry it on a handtruck which caused the engine to be almost upside down for about 5 minutes while I hauled it into the shop. How long do I have to wait for any oil that got on top of the cylinder to drain back down? It will be at least a day before I can get it fixed and need to run it. Is there anything else I should do before I fire it up- turn the engine over by hand slowly to make sure it's free? It was almost out of fuel, so only a bit drained out of the tank. I assume there's no way for fuel to run through the throat of the carb and into the cylinder.

Just fyi regarding the situation you describe........ the method the manual demonstrates to work on the walk behind blower is to take off the gas cap and put saran wrap (or similar) on and replace the cap to seal the tank.

Then pick the machine forward and stand it onto the blower "face".

It must be OK for the engine to be tipped up.. I would think ten minutes or less and the oil would resettle.

I'd just take out the spark plug and turn it over a few times, that should get rid of any oil that may have drained past the rings and into the top of the engine.
