went to cut some grass yesterday and lifted mower all the way up while traveling to where i was gonna cut. went to lower mower and front of it would not lower like it was in a bind. got to looking and realized the pto shaft was not sliding. removed shaft from tractor and cutter and cut shield away from shaft( not fun in the georgia sun!) and after investigation noticed the 'male' end of shaft is twisted. using hammers and crowbar could not get shaft seperated. funny thing is, i used it yesterday morning in some light grass just to try it out and know i didnt hit anything and had no problems then used the tiller. when i hooked cutter back up i put some grease on shaft so it would slide. i'm assuming it was twisted already and when i lifted cutter the twisted end jammed in and stuck. does this sound right? previous owner put a heavy bolt on gearbox end and it was bent and had to be beat out. bought this stuff used and shoulda noticed this before. what are my options? buy a new shaft? i see that agri supply has the male end or will this shaft never run true again? if it matters, it's a branson 4720 tractor and a 6' pegasus rotary mower.
