I am in the process of doing the 50 hour maintenance on my 2320 and have a couple of questions that I am hopeful someone will have an answer for:

1) On the 3 point hitch, there is a welded link on the bottom of the pivoting shaft that connects turn buckles and chains to the lower 3 point arms. On my tractor, I recently noticed the links connected to the turn buckles had effectively 'turned under' the shaft (see photo). The shaft seems to rotate easily, and I could simply spread the arms and rotate the assumbly so the 'links' are above the shaft (which is how I remember it... I think

Can anyone please advise as to the proper orientation for this linkage?

2) In the process of replacing the fuel filter, there is a spring and a large, red plastic 'washer' or 'ring' that was at the bottom of the sediment bowel. Is this correct? Essentially, there is a red washer, then the spring (centered within the red washer) then the actual fuel filter perched on top. My question: is this the correct assembly (bottom to top)? If so, what function does the red washer perform?

Thanks in advance for any help on these two questions!

Here is a snapshot of the 3 point linkage.
rubber washer keeps spring from rubbing against fuel filter housing, spring pushes filter up in correct location.

Big Dooley... thank you for your help on the fuel filter and 3 point hitch. On the 3 point, what keeps the shaft on your 3 point from 'rotating down' the way mine did? I had taken the 3 point arm on the RH side off to service the hydraulic mesh screen when I replaced the hydraulic oil... did I re assemble something incorrectly?

Thanks!

Looks like you just reassembled it wrong.
the assembly was removed to access the screen cover behind the stabalizer links.
when you reinstall the stabalizer link center piece with the 2 chain link sections should face rearward not down.
your adjustable links are all the way out.
this causes slack and will allow the center piece to rotate downward also.
the 2 adjustable links are to keep your lower arms from swaying side to side.
thus keeping your implement in the rear from swaying side to side.
they are usually adjusted so the lower arms can spread just wide enough to be connected to the hitch pins of your implement.
if you can rotate the center piece so it face to the rear, tighten the 2 adjustable lins evenly untill there is enough tension to keep the center piece from rotating downward.
Also replace the circular retaining rings that keep the adjustable side links locked in the position you set them at.
look at my photo's
hope this helps.

the red ring canfreely travel up and down around the spring?
if so then it is a water in fuel indicator.the red ring will float up on the water that is accumulated in the bowl.

I haven't changed my filter yet.
but
It appears the red disk is nothing more than a" seat" for the spring and does "not" float.

If it was able to float, it would be a 2 piece setup ( inside & outside the spring )

The plastic ring is a float to indicate the water level. Part #T11140 Float. From JD parts book.
