Need to replace both Hydraulic/transmission filters while I replace the hydraulic fluid. This is for the L3400 4WD HST.
One filter is called the Hydraulic oil filter in the maintenance section of the Workshop Manual, but I see no reference to the second filter under neath the clutch pedal.....any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

one filter for the hst, one filter for the hydro system (BH, FEL, 3pt hitch etc...) common system so thought 1 filter would do but they use 2 for some reason.

1) transmission oil filter
2) Hydro filter

on my B2620 the filters are different sizes

There are two separate numbers for the filters for that tractor. TA040-37710 and HHTA0-37710. From pictures I've found, there's not much difference between the two. Looking at the parts diagram.....it looks like they are interchangable. Do the two filters on your tractor look the same? I looked up and down and came up with pretty much the same as you.

I just bought both for my B26 and they have different part numbers so there must be some difference in them. Make sure you get the right ones and have the parts guy mark the boxes when you get them so you can tell them apart. Look in your manual to see which is hydraulic and which is hydrastatic filter by location.

On my L3240 the hydro filter, under your right foot, has a magnet to catch debris. The transmission filter, under your left foot, has no magnet. One filter is also longer and heavier than the other one, can't remember which one right now but they are not the same filter.

Oh you can tell them apart... One of them (the hydraulic one I think) is built like a tank and weighs like 3 lbs. The other one is more like a regular oil filter. If you use the trick of hooking up a shop vac to the fill port in the rear axle, you can take your time as fluid will not pour out, just a small amount (have a pan there for that).

HST(transmission) filter is on the left side and is the heaviest of the two. Hydraulic suction filter is on the right side and does have the magnet in it. DO NOT try to interchange them.
