I know that something similar to that happened several years ago in West Virginia (or was it Kentucky?) when a coal mine misjudged a cast blast and several boulders rolled through a trailer park.

Fortunately no one was injured, but the coal mine had to put those affected up in hotels and feed them until new trailers could be procured.

I have seen several rock slides in the mountainous area of Tennessee and North Carolina that closed the roadway for several days, but those were huge boulders in those pictures.

The "torn" pavement is interesting. :laughing:

The section of I40 from NC to TN has been closed several times by rock slides over the last few years. I have driven that section of I40 a couple of times and it is very pretty but also pretty scary. A long drop to the river on one side of the road and steep slopes covered in metal nets to keep the rocks from falling on the other. But you know the rocks DO fall and the metal nets do NOT stop the big rocks. Pretty area though.
