I am considering buying a used PT 425. There are 2 listed in the Used section of the PT web site. Can anyone provide some insight as to whether these are reasonably priced. Also, would appreciate any clues as to what I would be getting myself into by buying a used PT.

Thanks, Patrick

One thing about PT's is they are not really a commodity. Very few used PT's out there for sale. I guess you need to look at new price vs. used price vs. what you need. One thing about used tractors is that the attachments can be had much cheaper.

Best of luck.

One other thing, I think those two 425's have been there for awhile, so I would guess that the owners will come down on price. Make an offer.

Thanks, Any thoughts on how many hours a PT425 and PT1430 should last? 1200, 1500, 2000 hrs??

The gas motors should last 2000 plus hours if well taken care of, diesel much longer. I know when I talked to Terry when i bought my used 425, I also could have bought a 1430 with about 2000 hrs on it and he cautioned me about the life of the pumps with that many hours.

I can understand the motor life but a good hydraulic pump should last under decent conditions should last 15,000 hours and under really good conditions should last 20,000 hours. These same pumps are used in factories on machines and other equipment and management don't want to replace a pump every 2,000 hours. That is only 16 weeks in a factory running 3 shifts, 120 hours a week. Just my 2 cents.

Well I get the impression from this site that Power Trac doesn't necessarily feel that there filtering is the top of the line and that could shorten the life span.

Also, they have no precautions with the quick connect hydraulic lines. I am sure that lots of contamination can enter there if you are constantly changing attachments. That can't be good for the pumps either.
