Bolens g174 / Iseki tx1510/2160 K3B engine
hey wondering if anyone can help steer me in the right direction for my problem as im somewhat newer to diesel injection systems...

was brush chopping with my Bolens G174 with a K3B 3cyl yesterday and when taking a break or needing to stop for something id push in the clutch drop the mower all the way down to slow the blades so I could take it out of gear but when pulling the throttle back to go down to idle it will only drop about 700 to 800 rpms... the throttle handle will be all the way to the "idle" mark but still revving 1400 to 1800 rpms. if I leave it in gear and then just bump the clutch out a tiny bit then it will go back to normal idle...

the other odd thing was I have a fairly decent hills through the woods to get where I chop/ till and normal I run 2nd gear high to go down the hills as the trans just slows you down on decent down the hill... on the way back to the trailer after I had the idle down problems going down the hill the tractor just revs up and goes real fast down the hill not like it used to holding a constant rpm to whatever you have it set at all the way down the hill...

deffinatly getting too much fuel but not sure if its a leaking injector, the injection pump producing too much fuel, governor issue, or could be plugged fuel return line to the tank... I will go through the return lines first right away today as its cheap and easy but wondering is anyone else has seen anything like this...

any input it greatly appreciated!

thanks

Welcome :welcome:

leaking injector - probably not
injection pump producing too much fuel - make sure linkage is not loose or binding. Injector pumps set the amount of fuel to each cylinder by the internal rack setting which is tied to the fuel lever via linkage and a spring which brings us to the governor...
governor - could be internal linkage or sticking flyweight sleeve.
plugged fuel return line - probably not

Hopefully it is not the governor and associated linkage as that will require tearing into the front of the engine. I'd focus on the hand lever linkage first and make sure it is working correctly. In fact, I would disconnect it and operate the pump lever directly to test and see how it responds when it starts idling fast. Keep us posted and good luck!

sorry it took so long, thanks ilikeurtractor! I went through throttle linkage from the rod everything is good but when unhooked from the pump the pump lever seems a touch sticky near the idle position... however I cant get it to do the same problem again now that im at home so will just have to wait and see if it does it again to try and further diagnose the problem...
