TYM T25
Hello, I am purchasing a TYM T254 in the next week or so, I am considering adding a backhoe, my question is will the RK backhoe fit this tractor. The reason I am asking is the dealer backhoe is 8k, the RK24 is 5k, and the RK25 is 5.5k. The specs for the RK24 are closer to the T25 but I cannot get verification from anyone local, the dealer is price matching the RK25 tractor ($1500 difference). It would be better for me to add the RK at a later date and save $2500, rather than a package deal now. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

TYM makes Rural King Tractors, but they don’t say who makes the backhoe attachment. Since the Backhoe has a full subframe the issue I would be most worried about is having the sockets to attach it to the frame. I am guessing that if you buy the TYM unit, through the dealer, they will install the correct brackets, the holes will already be in the frame and it is a bolt together proposition.

The RuralKing, may not have the same brackets to get you hooked to the frame, and it may require either modifying your frame ( I wouldn’t), or fabricating custom brackets, if you have the skill set, or can pay someone to do it.

Personally, I don’t anticipate enough backhoe work to make a backhoe pay for itself, when compared to the cost of renting a mini excavator, which locally comes with a thumb to grab the big rocks out of the trench. And, if I pick it up after 1600 on Friday for a Saturday Rental, and Return it Monday between 0700, and 0800, I only get charged for one day of rental fees.

If you have a lot of backhoe needs then add 10K that 5 to 8 K towards a used dedicated backhoe.

Thank you for your reply, I kind of came up with the same decision, the backhoe is handy but not something I would use on a regular basis, so renting does make sense, again thank you.

I believe that they are both the same. Here is a couple of pics. The new TYM website is not user friendly right. Now. Hopefully when the load everything in a few months it will be easier.View attachment 709218View attachment 709219
