TYM Millennium T430
Have a TYM T430 that we use quite often, was out with it a bit ago, and all of a sudden the clutch would not disengage. the clutch pedal still feels like its working normally, but the tractor just keeps moving. We have tried adjusting as much as possible with no change. we are able to get it into gear with it running since it has basically snail speed gears, or we can start it in a higher gear, and it still is engaged all the time. Wondering if there are any tips or anything people think may be going on with it? or are we looking at splitting it.... we have tried driving it several times and nothing has freed up.

My 4110 Mahindra is TYM built so I wonder if my past clutch problems are the same as yours. My pressure plate has 3 specially made hard bolts that hold the actual plate assembly together and are used to make the "finger" adjustments for the release bearing. Occasionally one of these bolts will break giving the same symptoms you describe.

I tried to get the bolts from a well-established clutch repair facility in Nashville years ago with no luck. Had to order a reman. pressure plate to get the tractor going again a couple of times. Luckily the place I got it from last didn't need a core so I have 2 of those bolts from the old plate to use when it happens again - it has happened to me 3 times in 3224 hrs. of use.

Of course your problem may be totally unrelated to mine but the symptoms are identical. I've gotten to where I can do a clutch repair split in approx. 6 or 7 hours. You'll have to make the special gauge for setting the finger height from the flywheel surface - follow the shop manual instructions/specs for this step or you likely won't have a useable clutch when you get it all back together. I remove the flywheel and do this adjustment on the bench, then disassemble and reinstall the flywheel etc. to the tractor. Good luck !!

Skip thanks for the reply, based on the little bit of information I can find on this model, I am guessing you are right. Where were you able to order a reman from? Would like to just plan on changing that out once we get it split since they are old anyway, even if thats not the issue. and would like to have the parts on hand for minimum downtime (if even possible) Also, any information on the special gauge? or can I find that info in a service manual?

Has been quite awhile since I had to address this problem but I think it was AG Parts Ltd. or something similar to that name, was a large outfit. I was surprised at the time that the clutch parts fit a couple of Massey tractors too, I do remember that much. Maybe a model 1534 or 1535, something like that. Mine is a 2001 Mahindra 4110.

I have the Mahindra shop manual (pretty crappy manual) but it at least had the spec I needed and I fashioned a gauge out of some threaded rod, flat washer(s), nuts etc. You have to measure the distance from the face of the flywheel to the "face" of the fingers where the release bearing rides and do this with it all assembled, that's why I put the flywheel on the bench and install the disc & p. plate and torque everything down like you are putting it into service and then take your readings and make adjustments. There's only the smallest area to get a reading from on the flywheel face with everything in place so you just have to wing-it making the gauge.

The 3 bolts have a castle nut w/cotter pin to make the adjustments, each bolt adjusts 1 of the fingers. On the original p. plate and 1 of the remans I bought, it's 3 individual fingers that the release bearing rides on. On 1 of the remans I bought, those 3 fingers have a flat plate similar to a thick flat washer that attaches with little springs to the fingers themselves but the adjustment is the same.

You'll have to find this height spec for YOUR tractor as differences in release bearings, case designs/depths and linkages will have tremendous affect on it. I remember my first time on this I just eyeballed it all and got the tractor all together and I had NO clutch operation within my linkages adjustment range !! If I remember correctly I was only off adjustment by approx 1/4".

I wish you the best luck with your tractor.

My 3510 did that and a pressure plate spring broke, had to split it to replace clutch, throwout and pressure plate

It dosnt sound like your clutch stuck it sounds like it broke. Theres a big difference there. A clutch sticks from sitting where the disc actualy sticks to the pressure plate or flywheel. This can be fixed and not even have to turn a bolt.

I do remember my 3510 clutch stuck after sitting when it was new.
My dealer told me to get tractor moving and press/release the brakes hard on alternating sides till it frees up.
Seemed there was a load pop when it broke free.
I still pin the clutch down when winterizing
