Looking at possibly getting a TYM T574 HST (ROPS with a loader) to cut/bale hay with.
Anyone have one, or know someone with one who can give some feedback on them?

Thanks

Aaron Z

I have the little brother TYM474 - cab version. I do field/woods work with it. Love it. I'm just at 100hours and I've had no issues. I would recommend going over it thoroughly when you get it. Check all connections, hoses... to make sure everything is tightened.

I test drove one a few months ago. My frontrunner right now is the T494H, which is the same one without the turbo...more HP is nice, but money is nicer in my case.

I really liked the layout and how well it turned considering how big it is. The seat was pretty comfortable. I also like the standard features that would cost $1000s more on some brands (if even available). I also have two TYM dealers within 60 miles of our place.

The T574 is the big brother to my T474, they are pretty dang reliable compact tractors. The engines are probably the highest HP with mechanical injection and a DPF you can get in the market. No ECU for the engine itself, only the exhaust valve that shuts on regen cycle. I have 247h on my N/W Kukje A2300N4 engine, and never asked for a regen. No trouble what so ever, the T574 has a turbo to make it 55hp. The T494.T574 sits on the same chassis and loader capabilities.

I have a T574 and I use it primality for snow removal. I absolutely love it and have had no problems with it at all.

I have the T574 and I love the tractor. I use it mostly for loader/grapple work and mowing with a flail. It does everything I ask it to do. That said, I have not done any type of hay work with it.

I like the T494 also. Very nice tractor. It would be high on my list if I ever went bigger.

The only real negatives I've seen regarding TYM's current lineup are dealer related, and really that's a potential issue with any brand. Frankly it's nice to see so much good being said about them, because a decade ago they didn't seem to hold this confidence; which I find a bit odd given TYM made Mahindra's have seemed quite well regarded for years now. The only reason I didn't give them a proper look is that I straight up don't trust the local dealer, and that's unfortunate.

Speaking of the aforementioned TYM made Mahindra's, TractorHouse always seems to have a number of them selling with a few thousand hours- and that, to me, speaks well of their potential longevity. It's interesting seeing the concerns regarding these Korean machines slowly work away as the time passes, much as they did for the Japanese imports two or three decades prior. It really mirrors the automobile industry in that regard as well, as does the disappearance of many domestic and legacy brands.

Much like Hyundai and Kia at the turn of the millennium, good service and support from a local dealer is going to go a long way.

Is the 574 running a Kukje diesel? Those are quite nice; I really liked Branson.

Yes. The 574 runs the turbo version. I believe it is the same engine that is in the 5520 Branson. TYM mostly runs Kukje now since they bought the company. They have a few models with a Yanmar. My prediction is that they phase those out.

I'd been under the impression that they were phasing out their use of Yanmar, it just seems quicker than I imagined.

New to this forum and nice to see some affirmation of my decision to buy a 574 hst yesterday  I have no hours on mine at home yet, but the drive around the dealer parking lot was fun LOL

One quibble I had, that wasn't a deal breaker by any means, is that it seems the range selector is a bit finicky, which may be affected by my lack of technique. Hopefully I'll figure out the "touch" to switch ranges effortlessly, while at a stop of course.

Range selectors on lots of brands are finicky, on my 2538 you can forget about changing ranges if you are in 4 wheel, lower rpm raise front end up with loader and take out of 4x4 and change range , much easier,

Tap forward/backward very very lightly on a level surface, and selector tends to move a little bit easier.

It will get better over time, once things wear out a little bit and once you get the right feel for it.

Don't be like those people that leave the tractor in the same range gear for years and years and when they finally realize they need to change ranges, the pivot shaft for the range lever is frozen solid with rust.

Use that lever frequently and you'll have no issues swapping ranges. Same for the 4WD lever.

Thanks guys. The salesman told me to give it just a bit of pedal pressure while trying to select a range. That usually worked on my test drive but not consistently. He also suggested turning the steering wheel also may help unbind things just enough.

Same when taking it out of 4wd, drive slowly while turning steering wheel back and forth until it effortlessly pushes down on the engagment leveler. Never force it.

I bought a new 2021 T574 last year. It was stiff and finicky at first, but it has loosened up and shifts much better as I have put more hours on it and worked it.
