I am all over the map tonight but I would like to get a better understanding of what components are required/recommended in a typical closed hydraulic system.

Specifically installing a 20GPM rear PTO pump to drive a FEL mounted hydraulic auger with forward and reverse? TIA

I don't think you mean closed center system for which you would need variable delivery pump with a pressure controller.
I think you need open center system for its simplicity. If your pump is constant delivery pump then you need an open center motor control valve.
I bet some of the hydraulic gurus will chime in with more specific advice.

I'm sure I would have spelled hydrolic wrong if I hadn't looked it up. Thinking about a PTO pump, a tank, some filters, a couple check valves and a in/out lever. In this case a picture would help me understand where everything goes and then I could work up the specifications.

Your tractor is open center.

First you need to know the PTO HP so you can match up a PTO pump. like these.

Your PTO HP is about 35. Maybe this one.

Surplus Center

You then need a valve or set of valves, with one of the valves a motor spool valve for the auger, a 21 gal tank, filter, and hoses.

Although the hyd fluid is only used by the auger, it is still an open center hyd system. The flow is pump to valve, to motor, filter, tank.

Good call JJ - PTO HP was dead-on and that was the exact pump I was looking at. So how do you control the augers rotation? I assume you need to change the direction of flow through the auger drive but how? Thanks.
