I am new to tractors and have never had one before. I recently moved to a place with about 1 acre to mow (fairly flat), about 300' of gently inclining driveway that i would like to clear using snowblower attachment, and also some simple landscaping such as moving fill and mulch that i would use FEL. My local dealer suggested TZ 25 over the TZ 22 because "not much more $ for more HP" which seems to make sense. the catch is that according to the NH website there is 0% financing for 36 mos for the TZ25 vs 60 mos for the TZ22. This makes the TZ22 much more attractive for me. The question i have is will i miss anything significant with the 22 vs the 25 given what i want to use it for. Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to TBN :D! Please provide the membership with more information about your location, short term and long term projects. Do you see a lot of dirt moving in your future (like tilling, grading, box blading)? From what you have posted it appears the TZ22 could meet your needs, but I am not an HP junkie . I worked the same property with a Ford 1100 (13/11+ HP) as I am with my TC29DA (29/23+ HP). It just took longer and I had to approach some task a little differently with the Ford. Keep the posts coming :). Jay

I am in New Brunswick, Canada. Average snow fall about 10'. Most of the landscaping is fairly minor - just moving small amounts of dirt, topsoil, mulch, maybe grade the driveway periodically. Major role is really the mowing and snow clearance. thanks again in advance

I just purchased a TZ25 about a month ago. Little over 20 hours on it and absolutely love it.

Will you notice the difference between the TZ22 and the TZ25? Only in your checking account.

Get the TZ22, take the free money for 5 years and don't second guess it. I'd also recommend the 54" deck over the 60" for ease of removal and it's significantly less weight to move once it's off.

I got the 54" and haven't missed the 6" difference mowing a little more than what you are talking about. Also the cut quality of these decks is amazing. I posted pictures earlier that show you the results that I've been getting here in New Hampshire.

Whatever you get I'd also recommend you get everything you want now and include it in the 0% 60 month contract.

Hindsight being 20/20 I wish I WOULD have included the snow-blower :(

Let us know what you get and we always enjoy pictures....

I do not see a lot of difference between the two TZ's. The "25" has .15 gpm advantage in hydraulic pump capacity, 3 HP gross, and 2 PTO HP over the "22". I would go with your pocketbook and choose the "22" and the snowblower. I do not think you will see a difference in operation with your stated uses. Jay

I had the same dilemma a few months back. I chose the TZ22 over the TZ25. I ended up financing in full the TZ22da @ 2.9% (as opposed to 6.49% I believe on the TZ25) w/ loader and 60"mmm. I used the downpayment cash instead to pay for all my attachments outright since many were not NH brand and financing them would have been at around 8-9%. The monthly payments are low enough for me to double up to pay it off quicker or just pay the minimum on a bill heavy month. I love it and it has done everything I've asked it to. Thanks to all the TBN guys that helped me make my decision! It was more than capable digging the famous subsoiler trench 12" down for running a 3/4" poly waterline back to the garden. I took some pics of it at work if you would care to see. In summary, for what you need to do, both will kick ashe, so take the 0% and the TZ22.:D

When I bought my TC-24D, they had the 18, 21, and 24 hp in that class. The 21 was $1800 more than the 18, and the 24 was $300 more than the 21. So I was looking at $2100 across the range of hp. I went for the most HP I could get in that size machine and never regretted it. Especially if you are going to be running a mower or blower. As far as drawbar HP, I will be they are identical. Mine is identical to the 18 due to pressure relief valves and protection of the drive train. So you won't get anymore power to the ground with a HST if NH is still doing things the same way.
