TZ18DA info request

Non-NH dealer allowed me to test drive a TZ18DA over the weekend. How does one check the transmission fluid level as there is no apparent dipstick to the tranny. Also, perhaps someone is familiar with the PTO clutch recall and whether it applied to the early TZ18DA models under HB20001 serial number. Thanks for your assistance.

The dipstick for the hydraulics transmission is at the back by the PTO shaft it should have a small yellow or orange cap and its slightly covered up by the rear PTO cover. You have to tilt it down a bit and you will see it.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up trading off a green Sunstar for this NH with a 60" deck. I have been very impressed with its features and performance. Still wondering about the PTO recall and have been unable to confirm anything other than the rumor of one occurring on the earlier models. I probably will end up getting a service manual in hopes it lists recalls and the affected serial numbers.

A service manual is helpful for lots of things but service bulletins and recall notices are not among them. A New Holland dealer is the only reliable source for that type of info.

Thanks Rick. I checked with the local dealership, which probably sold this unit new, but ownership of the dealership has changed hands and they could only confirm the latest service work done.

Yeah, but if they wanted to they could probably look up any warranty work ever done by any dealer including recalls by plugging the serial number in the NH warranty system. I think the database might go that far back.
