TZ25DA - H.S.T. fan replacement

Has anyone replaced the H.S.T. plastic cooling fan on a TZ25DA? I have a new one to put on after going thru a corn field with a few tall stalks one day this winter. Just wondering how much of a job it is to do?

It took 45 minutes to change the plastic H.S.T. fan, simple job, all the bolts had loctite on them so it made the removal task time comsuming.

Glad to hear it wasn't a bad job. Also nice to know that New Holland used Locktite. I'm a big fan of Locktite products.

I just pulled the hst fan off my new holland T1010. There isn't one blade left on the fan and I have no idea what happened to it or when it happened.

Wasn't much to taking the fan out. 4 bolts holding the driveshaft together and another one to get the fan and a metal piece off the transmission spline.

Anyone know if these fans just break down or if you think something got in there to take out the blades? I never had to remove a stick from under the tractor up that far.

Just curious to know if anyone else has any comments.

I had to replace mine on the TZ22da. Don't know how long I ran it with no vanes on the fan. One thing is to mark both ends of the splined shaft if you slide it apart when R&R the fan. I found it is difficult to find the "home" position for the spline alignment. Other than that lesson it wasn't very difficult. Now, if I would have only remembered the filter when sliding out the mower this fall. I won't forget it after that lesson and mess!

thanks for the posting. Ever find out what happened to the fins? Did you remember getting anything like a stick stuck way up there? I checked with my local dealer and they are getting me a fan for around 11.00 but I just can't help but wonder what happened to those fins. Didn't mark the spline. I have the tractor up in the air and some time on my hands so I'll just have to play with it to get it lined up and back together. I'll do that if there's a next time. Thanks again!

Dealership replaced the fan on my TZ24DA when I found an occasional blade on the ground. The dealership installed a fan guard that offers some protection and as I recall was not a high dollar item. Manufacturer must not have anticipated that folks would use the tractor without the mower deck in place.

Fellow TZ25DA owner: I've wondered about have that unprotected fan. As a result, I've pretty much kept the belly mower on all the time. But I'd love to have more ground clearance. Where did you get the HST fan guard? Is it owner installable? Cost? Thanks in advance for the help!

The kit is available through you local NH dealer ( part number : SBA378011280) and costs about 45 dollars. It is something you can install yourself.
