Tractor
New Holland TZ24DA
I will be storing my Tractor for the Winter (November --- April). I have read fill the tank, fresh oil from various note. It will be in a Storage Shed, I prefer to not even start it. I will remove the MMM, change the Oil (20W40 Castrol) and grease all the fittings. It has 75 Hours on it and this will be my second Winter.

I pour oil into the cylinders of my cars, fill the Gas Tanks and change the oil. I assume I am not the only owner to store theirs for the winter. I did not find anything in the owners manual. So... I want my TZ to last. Last year I stored it in the Garage with my cars and I did start it at least once a month so I could work on the cars.

Any thoughts?

All good comments. Taking battery off and keep it inside with trickle charge is not a bad idea. I also block the clutch pedal (keep it pushed in slightly with help from a piece of 2x4 so clutch plate and flywheel or pressure plate don't freeze up together. Since I don't live where my tractor is stored, I raise the front axle just a tad and support the tractor on the jack stand... by doing so I will avoid squashed tires if they should loose air while I'm not around. By the way I also keep my tractor "lame" by removing one of the front tires in case if somebody decide to borrow my tractor permanently with no intention of returning it back. Not that it makes it impossible, but it just makes it hard to drag or winch up the tractor from gravel surface on to a flat bed with one tire missing:eek:

Thanks. I forgot about the battery and I want to add Anti Freeze Change. The manual states Yearly.

You may want to consider adding an additive to prevent fuel break down and algae growth. I have never understood how something can live in that environment. I usually prefer running my tractors about once a month (running with a load, not just idling) during winter. Also, consider taking the belt off of you MMM to not have pressure on the bearings. I spin the pulleys occasionally when I think of it. Probably a bit of an over-kill, but it works.

If it is under cover out of the weather and won't be eaten by mice (get a barn cat), looks like it will be fine.

My tractor spent 4 months in a barn this summer while I was in Kosovo. I filled a soft tire, charged the battery and it ran fine.
