I was helping the Brother-in-law look for a part for his old truck. I got to noticing that more cars anymore have electric radator fans. Soon after I got home I had a hole cut the the top I had build on my bota and an fan mounted to blow now on my head.

Now I am thinking if I could mount a mister below or above the fan and a small tank of water it would be just like AC

That radiator fan may pull 20-30 amps so be careful not to drain down the tractor battery. Lots of airflow.

A while back, at a surplus electronic shop I purchased a few 4" computer fans that ran on 12 volts.

First off they are very efficient 'axial fans' and secondly they were very affordable. (think I paid no more than $10.00)
Often refered to as a 'muffin fan'.

Just a couple of weeks back I mounted one in my cab to cool me off. Worked just great and fairly quiet as well.
Also it kept the biting insects away. (mainly deer flies).

Earlier on I used one to modify an old school bus 'under the seat' heater to heat my tractor cab. The origional heater fan was a huge affair that war noisy and inefficient. Also too large for my limited cab space.

The 'muffin fan ' is only 1" thick and draws less than 1 amp.

These little guys are generally all ball bearing equipped so they spin like the devil pushing as much air as you need.

I was working in 90 deg heat, very humid without sweating to speak of.
Deffinately worth installing.
ps I mounted it at about head level, a bit to the rear, aimed (naturally) at my head and shoulders.

Follow up:

I just checked 'muffin fan on EBay, for the fun of it.

A seller (item# 5793490853) is offering just what I was talking about for BIN @ $6.95!

It draws 660 ma @12 VDC and pushes 110 cfm's.
(that's more than your average kitchen range hood fan)

Believe me you won't regret one.
