UDT vs TSC hydraulic fluid?

I'm thinking of using the hydraulic fluid from TSC rather than drive to the kubota dealer to buy UDT. Anyone used the TSC variety and any problems?

Just had this conversation with the dealer yesterday. He said that any good brand of Universal tractor fluid was OK to use. I put in the original UDT because the tractor is still under warranty. He agreed that in warranty, don't give the manufacturer anything to hang their hat on if some part fails. If they check the fluid and it isn't a Kubota product, they can deny the claim so he said...... for the small difference, I think that I will stick with the OEM fluids for a while..... cheap at twice the price if you have a failure that you have to pay for because you used another brand of fluid. Some manufacturers such as Mercedes will give you a list of approved manufacturers fluid and if you use them, you are covered in warranty. I do know that Mercedes checks fluids when there is an expensive mechanical failure due to lubrication. Had an engine replaced at 30K when it wiped out a crank journal. Had to prove that ALL the required maintenance was performed before they would OK the repair. Good thing that I had a dealer that went to bat for me. That is the differance......

I'd think twice before subbing it for the (admittedly expensive) Kubota oil. I have used hydro oil from CT and TSC in my Ford - just made sure the "meets/exceeds" related to the oil called for.

That said, there was a difference in the performance between UDT and Super UDT in my B7500HST. After switching to S-UDT the steering has worked better. With UDT the steering felt "lumpy" and required extra effort sometimes when the weather was hot and the engine was going PTO RPM......................chim

Just had my 50 hr. service done, my BX1500 is shipped with Super UDT in it!! Better check your manual to see if regulare UDT is ok.

I know that it was shipped with Super UDT, but the Kubota dealer that I purchased it from said that they replace it with the standard UDT, because of price. I have not been able to find out what the difference is between the two.... Junkman

There have been quite a few discussions about UDT vs. S-UDT. The difference between the 2 is SUDT flows better in colder temperatures than UDT.

UDT and SUDT is manufactured and packaged by Chevron Oil for Kubota.

I had my petroleum jobber try to get the oil from Chevron in bulk. No way. They wouldn't even return his calls.

Chevron - That's interesting. That's the brand of syn oil I used. It actually says OK for Kubota on the side of the 5 gal pails. The distributor claimed it's not made anymore and so gave me a good deal on the last 15 gallons he had.

Actually, all of Kubotas fliuds are made by Valvoline as of about 2 years ago. Chevron may have made them prior to this, however. SUDT was formulated by Kubota and is available exclusively thru Kubota. In warm climates I think it is fine to use UDT, but SUDT performs much better in cold climates and in such I would highly recomend putting out the $'s for it rather then risk the consequences. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
