I just bought a 2011 kubota tractor 5740 and I run the Low Sulfur Diesel instead of the ultra low in my 06. Is it a requirment in the new tractors to run ultra low?

Read the operator's manual. If ULSD is required, Kubota will say so.

From what I have read online, lsd is not even available for purchase and all diesel sold whether on or offroad is ulsd. I believe it is an epa requirement now. I buy offroad and my supplier only has ulsd and I use it in a 90' backhoe, 04 kubota and 06 komatsu and have never had a problem.

My 2010 GL4240 says low sulfur or ultra low sulfur only. The low sulfur is cheaper around here (I had a hard time even finding ultra low off road diesel) so that's what I run.

They may specify ULSD to match with the oil change intervals that they recommend. ULSD will allow you to go longer on oil changes because there's less sulfur dioxide going into the oil.

LSD is available in the northern climates. If you run ultra low in fuel oil heaters, they will gum up. That is why LSD is still available up here.

If your state has it available(many do not)use the LSD instead of the ULSD,it will have better lubricity property's in for your injectors and pump.

and as far as ultra low in fuel oil heaters i run it in all my heaters no problem, the only thing changed is the sulfur content, shouldn't gum anything up unless your running some crappy #2.

In our area, so called "off road diesel" is just ULSD with red dye.

Might be true but you will need a higher rating oil I think with these oils..I use these ULSD but add MMO since they suck with lube etc..

Same here and in most other areas.
*It's not what you call it it's where you use it.

1*But it won't be after the stock pile is used up.
2*I'd say it's because the storage supply hasn't been all used up.
When that's gone there wan't be any more cause they aren't making any more of it.

**This option is coming to an end as supplies dwindle.

1*From what I have read online, lsd is not even available for purchase .
2** all diesel sold whether on or offroad is ulsd.
3***I believe it is an epa requirement now. I buy offroad and my supplier only has ulsd and I use it in a 90' backhoe, 04 kubota and 06 komatsu and have never had a problem.
1*That's the way i understand it .
2**Of froad and on road isn't about two types or kinds of fuel .It simply refers to the location or place where fuel is used.
3***The EPA is the responsible party.

1*(I had a hard time even finding ultra low off road diesel) so that's what I run.
1*This seems to go against logic.
