Un Identified 3 point Aerator

Anyone know what this is? I originally just skipped past it, as I don't really need/want an aerator, but going back over the online auction, I'm wondering if that is a seed box on the rear, for over seeding golf courses or something. I do have some pasture that needs seeded, and being an odd item, I good see it going for cheap. I don't see any chains or drive wheels though, and it looks to be about 30" wide.

Looks like we have several new buyers of tractors in the last several weeks. I'm seeing questions concerning spreaders, rollers and aerators. I've bought and tried different implements over the years, some I keep and some I've sent to new homes because they didn't or currently don't provide much...

it was pretty narrow, ideally you would want it to be wider then that... still pretty cheep...

So, it has to be about 30" wide, which makes me question it's intended use. It's clearly a 3 point impliment, so I wouldn't think it's for small spot areas,

which is pretty narrow, I agree though its not for spot area just for a baby tractor.

It is a very strange looking unit. If you blow up the picture, it appears the "spkes" are actually hollow, like a core aerator, but don't seem to have a way to eject the cores. The spikes appear to be replaceable.

The drum looks like the one on my Ferguson Yard Maker, which is made to be filled with water for ballast, except this one has slotted holes in the sides.

The box on the back looks like a seed box, but doesn't seem to have any type of controls or agitator, plus, I would think a seed box would be in front of the spikes (like on my Yard Maker).

I am baffled at the intended use of this attachement.

Is it possible the back box was/is intended to gather the plugs/cores for disposal? I did notice it was a plug or core type, and initially I thought the drum was solid, but you are correct, it is slotted, and open. I just can't really picture what the specific intended use is?

I was wondering if maybe the plugs go into the drum, then rattle around to get broken up and fall out the slots in the sides of the drum. Can't imagine that would actually work though....

It also looks like maybe the drum can be opened up like the ones you use to spread compost.
