This past weekend I started the slow process of unlimiting my Grand L 4060 Limited Edition, by installing LED work lights. The lights were recycled from an older tractor. I only had to buy the switch. It turned out to be a pretty simple job but now I think I should have done a little more. While I had the cap off, I never thought to look for a wiring harness for rear work lights.
Now I need some guidance. If I find the harness is already there for the rear lights, it shouldn't be any trouble. If its not there, Ive thought about two options. I need to know if either is a reasonable solution.
First, I planned on removing the pod LED lights from the front and replace it with a light bar. I could then use the wiring from the second, unused light and run it under the cap, to the rear and mount one of the pod lights there. But anytime I turned on the work lights, the front and rear would come on. This shouldn't be a problem as I don't plan to road the tractor at night anyway, but would be nice to have the option to use only front or rear.
Second option would be to buy a second switch and plug it into the rear wiper harness, as we don't have rear wipers. The switch location would then be on the right side pillar beside the front light switch. The wiring harness runs up the pillar and exits the headliner at the rear glass. This would be an easy fix by just pulling it back above the headliner and out to the lights.
Im open to any suggestions. Let me know if either is these are BAD ideas.
