Last week Friday, I went to my local Kubota dealer, Kubota of Knoxville, to buy a new rotary cutter. Found a Landpride RCR1872 that fit all my criteria, agreed on a price, and shook on the deal. The salesman told me they didn't have a mechanic on duty on Saturday to set the cutter up, and, since it was supposed to rain all weekend, suggested I pick it up on Monday. OK by me. Monday comes and I called down to the store to make sure my mower was ready. Another salesman told me they had sold my cutter to someone else and "mine" was now on order. I was not happy.
I thought, why not call Brady at Barlow's Equipment, since I bought the tractor there and they took good care of me. Called, but Brady wasn't there. Left my number. A couple of hours later I got an e-mail from Brady (he had remembered me) and he told me they had my cutter in stock. I e-mailed him back and told him to get one ready, I'd be down in the morning (yesterday). I drove up there (100 miles) and they had me loaded and back on the road in no time. I saved $350 over the Knoxville price. Sidebar: I paid Gary, the parts guy with hundred dollar bills. As a joke, I pulled one out and said he couldn't have that one, it was still wet. He just laughed. I asked if they got many bogus bills and he said "No, we work on the honor system here..." And that one line summed up the difference between my experience at Kubota of Knoxville and Barlow's Equipment. They do what they say they are going to do and go out of their way to make their customers happy. I can't possible imagine anyone at Barlow's giving you their word and then backing out of it.
They are GREAT people to do business with. This is my unabashed, unashamed, non-reimbursed shout out to Barlow's Equipment. You can't find better people to do business with.
End of soap box rant.
