Yep, there's your problem. I think you meant to say that you just noticed that you forgot to check each joint for grease. Buy a grease gun and a case of good grease. Pump often and pump well, grease is very cheap and there is no penalty for overgreasing. That is, unless you step on a ball of grease and then track that grease into the home and onto the carpet.

I have these two front wheels on my finish mower that I keep well greased. If I dust off the seat on tractor I can cut grass and not get dirty at all. So.... I come home and want to get in an hour or so of cutting. Don't need to change clothes. In the last 4 yrs the 'extra' grease oozing out of the wheels has got my street pants at least 6 times. Usually when I walk between tractor and cutter to "throw in a quick couple gallons" of fuel. Greasing the pants is #2 behind tracking grease inside. If I track grease into the house I will be first in line to lobby for gun control.

That is not always true. I am constantly after my guys at work for overgreasing. Not only does it make a mess, but we blow bearing seals, etc.

Your first recommendation about grease often is the best advice. Too little grease may mean you have to grease more frequently, but too much grease does not mean you can go longer in between lubes.

Well, now that you've used it once, it's up to you to grease the FEL at the start of each days work. I know, I know the book says every 10 hours. But, it's so much easier to just hit each zerk with a pump when you are going to be using the FEL. It's a good habit to be in.

On the topic of grease guns, you may find that a solid nozzle works better than a hose or that a certain fitting needs a different tip. I get different guns for each special application. There are about 5 hanging up right now, each with a special purpose.
