Universal seat for L-series tractor?

My L4200 is in serious need of a new seat - my cover has all but disentegrated and my garbage bag auxilary seat cover is just a little too getto for my tastes . I don't really like the Kubota stock seat shape, but I've seen several decent looking "universal fit" seats, for example the "Universal Tractor Seat" or the "Tractor Seat with Slide and Suspension" shown in the catalog excerpt below:

Has anyone tried this type of thing, and do they actually fit/work?

I've wondered about that too. I have a 2 year old L4400 that stays outdoors. The seat is okay now, but the vinyl is starting to puff up away from the foam in a few places but other than that no problems. In fact, I find this cheapish looking seat to be very comfortable to my 6'4" frame.

But, I've eyed some of the fancier seats at TSC and wondered if they would fit.

I think the way to do it would be to remove the original seat from the hinged plate it is screwed onto. Then, make a paper template of the screw holes. Carry the template to a TSC/Agri Supply (or where ever) and see if the holes line up with one of their 'universal' seats. The ones I've looked at have dozens of holes on the seat bottom in order to fit a wide variety of makers.

I actually haven't found the seat uncomfortable (other than the feel of the plastic garbage bag of course), but I haven't done much long-term sitting either - I've spent most of my time sitting on the backhoe seat. I don't think my back could tolerate much continuous time on that seat. The adjustment hardware under my seat is shot too - I'd like to replace the whole shootin' match, but going OEM is expensive, considering I already know isn't going to be all that great feeling. The adjustable suspension aftermarket seats look much better.

Unfortunately, none of the big-box ag supply stores have made it into this part of the country yet, at least none that I know of, so I'd pretty much have to mail-order and hope for the best.

It might be worth contacting the manufacturer directly if you can find them...but you may need to be fluent in Chinese.

I've never looked to see how hard it would be to replace the whole assembly. Probably not too bad but might have to jury rig or remove the operator presence switch.
