Our good old 445! Maybe the post above bought ours, traded in at JD in Chatsworth around 97.
I kind of liken that tractor to the off brand tractors that are around today, except maybe there was a lot more metal in the old stuff.
We had a choice to buy a MF 135 or the Universal. The Universal had a lot more options as standard. Even came with a box of tools and a hydraulic jack all looking like something from harbour freight. In hindsight, we should have bought the MF, only because our tractor still looked show room after twenty something years and as much as we did really well on trade price, we would have really scored with a mint 135.
The Universal was built by the communists in Romania under license from Fiat. It was an alright tractor, except particularly poor in the electrics, hydraulics or anything rubber, aside from the tires which were Good Year.
We did however enjoy very good and friendly service from Universal in Mississauga and enjoyed unbelievably low prices on parts because this was all artificially supported by the communist. This of course is all water under the bridge now.
The good thing is that there are a number of tractors that were almost identical with intergangeable parts. White and Cockshut come to mind but there are I believe four.
