Hi board!

I passed by as I hope you can help me. I am trying to ID a wheel / solid rim for a size 7.50x20 tire, 5 bolt, 5 1/2 inch to fit a WWII WILLYS Jeep.

It was used on an experimental vehicle between 1943 and 1945. As I do not think that WILLYS had them specially made, I guess they used a set of already available truck or TRACTOR wheels...

Take a look, maybe you do recognize the beast!

IT IS NOT THE STANDARD OR EARLY JEEP WHEEL MADE BY KELSEY-HAYES! This one is much bigger than the "ordinary" 4.00 solid / 4.50 split x 16 Jeep wheels!

BTW, once ID'd, I would need a set of 5!!!

Thanks!
Lars

Have you looked at a New Idea ground drive manure spreader? Saw one today sitting in a pasture. Looked to be pretty close to the picture.

Jim!

Thanks for the tip! Although I come from a farming background, I live in Germany and my family does use European (German) equipment...so..no chance seeing US manure spreaders or anything else...except some FORD or JOHN DEERE Tractors.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is there any chance you could check those out you saw, maybe even take a pic for me????

Thanks Jim!
Lars from Germany!

I don't have a digital camera. My son will be home for Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks. I'll borrow his camera and see if I can get a picture for you.

In the mean time, you might want to check with M. E. Miller Tire to see if there is something available that you could modify. I know that they carry weld on rims in the appropriate size and also six lug 20" rims. Not sure that you couldn't modifiy the six lug to work by welding in part of a jeep rim.
