Tractor
Fiatagri 90-90
Hello. This deals specifically with a early 80s Fiatagri Hesston 90-90 tractor. If This is too brand specific than I guess the NH forum might be a better place. The reason for posting here is that the same warning symbol may be in use for other brands.

We do not have the manual for this tractor. The warning lamp comes on at about 1500rpm and goes off as soon as rpm drops below 1500. Included is a picture of the warning lamp. I had to draw over it to make it more clear but basically it shows an arrow passing through a dotted line. I take this to mean it is a filter? If so than what filter? Air, Oil, Fuel, Hydraulic?

I was just hoping someone could tell me before we have to use process of elimination to find it.

Not exactly sure, but that looks as if it could be the infamous "low beer" warning light!:D:D Thus the arrow pointing down. It would be advisible to park the tractor and replenish as needed! :D

Fishguy, that made me laugh, thanks so much.

Idiot lights just tell you somthing is up so do the normal checks of radiator fluid, radiator fluid reservoir low, but then also check the air filter.

I think it is either the air filter or maybe low coolant. Diesels have no throttle plate so higher rpms directly relate to more air being pumped through the engine and a harder suck on a partially plugged filter, sometimes there is a vacuum sensor in the intake tract to indicate this situation.

Just this weekend my low coolant light came on which looks like a circle with a squiggly horizontal line through it. A cup of water and the light went off.

Well, I figured it out. I was working on a lawn mower that's electrical wiring got knawed on by a zealous animal and I just happened to look over and on it's air filter case, that same exact symbol was stamped on it.

So, the next day, I checked the air filter on the tractor since that is the easiest thing to get to and you can actually visually check it. The outer filter was fine, it only has a few hours on it, but the inner filter was clogged up bad. To hold until we get a new one, I just carefully blew the dirt out of it with compressed air. It's origional color is blue, not white, I soon found out.

Reassembled everything and took it on the road. 5th gear 4rth range and at about 2,000rpm and 20mph, no sign of that warning light. It normally comes on at 1500rpm, so that seems to be the culprit.

Thanks for the help. :)

WAY TO GO!!

Now, tell the truth, how many brewskis did it take? :D

It's really amazing what problems, both local and worldly, can be cured with just a couple "adult beverages"!! ;)

Fiat has paper air filter element with safety cartridge?
That lamp indicates that you have too big underpressure in air inlet; filter is clogged and need to be cleaned with compressed air or replaced.
Recommendation;from the user manual of my SAME tractor, is to "replace air filter element after 6 times cleaning it.
Don't clean and safety (inside main) cartridge, just replace it after 3 times of cleaning main element."

Thanks for the heads up on the inner cartidge. I wanted to see if that was the problem first before I bought a replacement so I used compressed air from a can to clean all the loose stuff off. It worked. Plan on getting a replacement.
