When I bought my Kubota L3400 I had the tires loaded as part of the deal. It was a good idea with my hilly rocky land in TN. I have since moved back to MS and I have no hills to speak of. The weight of my tractor tends to cause ruts and most of my land now is soft loam or clay which is a real problem when wet. I was wondering if unloading my tires (R4s) would help. Also is there any reason not to unload the tires after they have been loaded for two years?

Traction and ballast for FEL work is the reasons I keep mine loaded.
Stability on hills is another but you don't have any hills anymore so traction and ballast.

I unloaded the tires on my B7800; soft soil use is much improved.
If I need balast I'll get a weight box.

It is important to have enough rear ballast to offset loader work. Once you go beyond that it is a waste.

I have loaded tires on my L3400 and no hills to speak of. Would not buy another tractor without loaded tires. The difference is immense when doing any loader work at all. I also tend to use a ballast on the 3PT in addition when lifting something particularly heavy.

Depending on the soil conditions, I would guess that if you are going to have ruts with loaded tires, you are probably going to have ruts without loaded tires.
