I have an unused white rectangular electric plug at the back of my tractor under the bottom glass of the cab. It has 6 wires in the plug. My first instinct is that it's for the rear wiper, which wasn't ordered with my tractor, but it's about 3 feet from the mounting bracket, so I was wondering if this could possibly be for a trailer towing plug.

I would like to pull a wagon with lights and wondered if it's possible that a smaller (48HP) cab tractor would be pre-wired for one?

I also have several unused "bullett" connectors and matching female sockets in wire harnesses back there that are unused as well. My tractor has rear aux lights up under the eaves of the cab in back. Any ideas what these unused connectors might be for? More work lights?

Okee dokee, I'll update my own thread.

I found out the plug is for a trailer harness. There's 6 wires. I put my tester to it and in fact, some contacts blink when the L & R turn signals are applied. Some others are always hot when the key is on.

The thing I can't understand is that I applied the brakes in the tractor, but it seems like none of the contacts have power when the brakes are applied. Wouldn't a 6 or 7 way plug have brake power to the trailer, too?

The other bullet contacts have a mix of power to them constantly or power only when key is on. Some are descibed as "power beyond" and actually have a fuse protecting them. What would be the use for constant electrical power beyond on the back of a tractor? Seems handy, but what would they be used for?

On other bullett connectors, or the tester blinks when turn signals are on. My tractor already has 2 sets of factory rear turn signals. Why would they supply more? Only thing I can think of is for wide clearance blinkers that hang out wide on rods for towed implements going down the road.

If this is on your Challenger, it is probably similar to my MF1533. There was a mating harness that came with it to plug into the tractor mounted connector and had wires ready to attach to your trailer wireing harness. I also have the two female individual sockets that you describe. They are intended for work lights if you don't have a cab.

That's exactly what my best guess was, too.

Any idea of the cost/availability or part #?

Do you have this harness?

I have about 6 unused pin/socket type connectors. All of them are hot or blink with signals when key is on and/or flashers are on. I have a cab on mine.

Sorry, I don't have a part number. When I asked the dealer about the connector that would plug into the connector on the back of the tractor, they didn't know anything about it. Luckily, the connector was supplied with the tractor and I found it in the little tool box behind the seat. The other single female connectors were compatable with a standard connector that I bought at an auto parts store.

Thanks.

I just got a part explanation & quote from Challenger dealer today. It's a plug with 6 wires for $29. It is a trailer wiring bundle. After you buy the plug & 6 wires, you add your own trailer plug and you're done.

Now what I'd like to find out is if this plug & bundle of wires is available somewhere else cheaper. That seems real spendy for a plug & 6 wires.

I'm heading off to trailer supply store to find out.

Thanks for your help.
