update on 7610s HYD remote issue

Finally got a call from the service dept at the dealer today. It was a real head scratcher.

To bring you guys up to date, I have a 7610s with the deluxe 2 remote pack on the rear of the tractor.. 1 remote worked.. 1 didn't.

Tried cleaning it.. tried oring rebuild kit..etc.

Coupling section was fine.. problem was in the spool pack.. ended up being a crack in the 'shuttle' check.. or something to that effect.. in any case.. a non-repairable defect in the casting the spool valve set was machined from.

New spool set was 700.. However I found someone who had a working used spool from a parts tractor they sold me for 350.. I was happy to take it. I had the dealer drop an oring kit in the spool and connector pack, and i had a fan belt put on while it was there.. The dealer gave me partial credit for a 67$ cleaning thaey had done on the valve prior to bringing the tractor in. In total, top up with oil, and pickup / deliver fee, grand total for parts and dealer was 705.41.

I guess I should be happy with that, as a new valve set would have cost that much byitself.

Sounds like an "ok" resolution for a situation where there is no cheap way out.

I got home from work tonight and my tractor was waiting in my driveway where the NH driver had left it. I drove it around to my batwing and hooked it up.. hyds worked great!

I hope you save the old spool set for future parts use.

I've got it in a box in the garage. While the main body casting is bad.. I guess i can use the spool shafts, the detent covers, and assorted springs and plug/nut/bolt hardware from it.

Here's the kicker. i'm the 2nd owner of the tractor... 1st owner bought tractor and ran it with a hyd lift mower that was 10' and only used 1 remote for the lift. Owner turned it back in after a year and went to a smaller tractor.. I get it.. and then go 2 years and never use either remote.. when i finally do need the remotes.. only 1 works.. presumably the one the prev owner used... My guess is this was actually a factory defect that just unfortunately.. never got caught. Wish i had tested them when I bought the tractor so i could have had it fixed under warranty /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I found all this out, as the service manager contacted the prev owner to see what he used on the remotes to help get an idea about what might be wrong with them...

Oh well... fixed now...

Glad you got it fixed Soundguy and was not as bad as it could have been. It is my understanding that "Deluxe" refers to the fact that there are two sets of remotes, "Standard" is one set of remotes.

A defect in the casting...so how did that work? When activated where did the fluid go...back to the supply side? In this case both pressure and flow would be low?

I think Ill learn from your experience and try all of the tractors features before taking it home. I always figured the dealer would check things like this out before putting a used machine up for sale.

The service manager did not get down to the nitty gritty details.. but apparently, the casting for the '2nd' remote had a flaw that let oil bypass tot he sump, and he thought it was in some kind of 'check' area, as you coup get some pressure out of it, if you also presurized the other remote.. though it leaked off immediatly.
