Rotary Cutter Update on the bush hog 1812

Finished my first big job today. It is a rail park, 176 acres. The first half i did with my 6 foot flail. Took me 38 hours for 89 acres, 2.34 acres per hour. The second half, i did with the 12 footer. Took 16 hours for 87 acres, 5.43 acres per hour. Im happy but a bit confused. Took more maneuvering with the big machine but less overlap overall. Speeds were about the same, lowest about 4 mph, tops about 9.5 mph, it was dictated by vegetation and how rough the ground was but the cut on neither machine suffered with speed. Guess ill quit trying to figure it out and go with it. Dont like the windrowing still but i get paid any way so oh well.

Many of us are interested, for sure. I happen to like flail mowers ('cuz I hate windrows!) but you'd need a 12' gang flail to compare apples-to-apples with a rotary. And that ain't cheap.
If you have ~one foot of overlap, you essentially gain one extra foot with each pass with the batwing, so you should, at the same ground speed, spend less than half the time with the 12-footer.
I have a paltry four acres, with so little flat area that a 60-inch finish mower is in danger of scalping unless I cut very high!

Yeah, on my original post, i said my dream machine would be a folding flail cutting 15 ft or so. Money, money, money...
I much prefer the flail but in this case, cutting 12 foot instead of 6 is making me money.

Allen, are others reporting the windowing problem with the BH 1812? Or is this something that is a unique problem with yours? I guess I missed the original thread.
