I have an 07 powerstroke with four upfitters switches already installed and want to add auxillary back up lights under the rear bumper. I know that the the orange blunt cut wires for the switches are located behind the power dist. junction box under the steering wheel. My question is : do I have to run a wire from the lights through the firewall, or can I use one of the existing pass through wires? My understanding is that these are for PTO applications? Also the lights are 55w - should they be hooked up to the 30amp switch, or is the 1o amp OK?

The pass through circuits are 14 ga. and are rated by Ford for 25 amps, which will be sufficient for the backup lights so long as you do not use too many of them or higher wattage than 55. They can be used for any purpose that requires running circuits from inside the cab to the outside, not just PTO applications. If you are using 2 or fewer 55 watt lamps you should be OK using the 10 amp switch. See the attached PDF files from Ford's Body Builders Book for more information on the PTO circuits.
